You are a smart, educated person with amazing potential and intentions, so what's going on?
#1 You may not be setting S.M.A.R.T goals
- Specific- The more specific the better! Details, details, details! Set a minimum to strive for and then if you do more, well, then you're awesome!
- Measurable- How many times a day/week will you be doing this goal? How much time? Can you check a box to know it's done?
- Attainable- Can you realistically accomplish this goal? Be your best advocate and allow yourself to start small and work your way up to that bigger end goal.
- Relevant -Are you choosing this goal because you think you should or because everyone else is doing it? Do you really want to do this goal? Do you value it? When you find the goal you really value, you will be fueled with passion and it will be easier to accomplish.
- Time Based- When do you want your goal met? The whole purpose of goal setting is to get to a point where you can either step it up a little or pick a new goal.
#2 You may not be recording or tracking your goals
There is something amazing that happens to the brain when we record the progress of our goals. Like a snowball moving downhill, we build up momentum and it gets easier and easier to keep our goals. You can record your goals on a calendar, in a journal or on a post-it note! Start tracking your progress and the most important part, don't beat yourself up when you skip a day, just get up the next day and start over!
#3 You just straight up forget!
Let's be real, we all forget sometimes. I have had my share of spending hours getting my goals set, making a pretty spreadsheet for myself and feeling like there isn't anything that is going to stop me! And then after a couple days pass, I feel a subtle thought cross my mind, "Wasn't there something I was suppose to be doing..."
This life is a battle, and when all is said and done it is a battle of remembering vs. forgetting. Learning how to remember is the key! We have to remember who we are, why we are fighting and how our chosen goals will change our lives. We will continue to forget because we are still breathing, but we can train our brain to remember more and more!
#4 You may not have positive peer pressure
The most effective fuel to keeping your goal fire going is having positive peer pressure or having a support team. One person or a group of people you can report your goals to. Think about a trusted family member or friend who you could send a quick text to at the end of each day reporting a "yay" or a "nay". An Eternal Warriors group is a very powerful way to find that positive peer pressure that propels you forward.
#5 You are awesome and Satan knows that
Satan knew you before this life and he remembers your talents and potential. He will do everything in his power to stop you and that includes making you forget. If knowing is half the battle, then know this: you are awesome with limitless potential and Satan knows it. If there ever was a reason to fight it would be to become that person that Satan does not want you to become.
Eternal Warriors is an inspired and well thought out program that creates warriors, young and old! It will teach you to fight, to uncover Satan and his plan to thwart you and to give you the tools to follow through with your goals.
